D30 putty knee pad, 2012 (c)

D30 is a smart putty material used in British Army equipment and vehicles to absorb the energy from Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts in Afghanistan (2001-2014). It was designed to harden quickly upon impact and then soften again immediately.
