Snider-Enfield Mk II .577 inch rifle, 1867 (c)

The Snider rifle was introduced in 1866 as the first breech-loading infantry weapon. It was basically a converted muzzle-loading Pattern 1853 Enfield rifle. The Snider was used by the British Army until 1871 when the Martini-Henry replaced it.
