Multi-terrain pattern (MTP) Osprey Mk 4 body armour cover, vest front, 2010 (c)

This piece of kit was first issued in April 2010 and has been used by soldiers deployed on operations in Afghanistan (2001- ). Hard armour plates or soft armour fillers can be inserted into the inside pocket of the vest in an attempt to make the armour less bulky and obstructive to movement. The vest includes rubber mouldings on the shoulders, designed to prevent rucksacks and weapons from slipping. The inside of the vest has a new ribbed material lining designed to improve breathability in hot climates.
