Multi-terrain pattern (MTP) Mark 7 helmet cover and spare scrim, April 2011
This was one of the items in 'The Black Bag' holdall of clothing and equipment issued to soldiers deployed on operations in Afghanistan (2001-2014).
MTP camouflage was designed to blend with the range of environments in Afghanistan and was developed after extensive laboratory tests and field evaluations, which included aerial and scientific photography to provide the right colours and brightness for the new pattern. Computer modelling was used to represent the deserts and mixed environments in Afghanistan. MTP combat clothing replaced the previous Combat 95 uniform.
