Type 96 Arisaka 6.5 mm light machine gun 1939 (c)

This was the Japanese Army's main light machine gun of World War Two (1939-1945). It entered service in 1936 and was a reliable weapon. The Type 96 had a rate of fire of around 450-500 rounds a minute, but its 6.5 mm bullets lacked penetration. This led to the introduction of the more powerful Type 99 light machine gun with the larger 7.7 mm round in 1937.
