Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal 2002

Circular, cupronickel medal with a gilt finish. On the obverse, a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) wearing St Edward's Crown, with the inscription, 'Elizabeth. II. Dei. Gra. Regina. Fid. Def'; on the reverse, a shield with Royal coat of arms surmounted by a crown, flanked by the two dates, '1952' and '2002'; the medal is suspended by a ring from a blue ribbon with red edges and a central, thin, vertical red stripe flanked by two vertical white stripes.

The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal is a commemorative medal created in 2002 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne in 1952. It was awarded to active personnel in the British Armed Forces and Emergency Personnel who had completed 5 years of qualifying service. It was also awarded in Canada, with a different design, to nominees who contributed to public life.
