'Recruits wanted for the Territorial Army, Come Inside!', 1920 (c)
Chromolithograph recruiting poster after Ernest Ibbetson (1877-1959), published by Henry Hildesey Limited, 1920 (c).
A Territorial Army soldier gestures towards a tent within an encampment with men playing football and sailing boats in the distance. The tent flap is open, showing three of the soldier's comrades with a dog. The tent is decorated with the inscription, 'The Lads of the Village', and a Union flag.
After the end of World War One (1914-1918), units of the Territorial Army (then known as the Territorial Force) were gradually disbanded, but by 1921 it was reconstituted under the Territorial Army and Militia Act 1921.
