Highland Light Infantry Challenge Cup, 1944
Electro-plated, nickel silver, two-handled sports trophy, stamped beside one handle 'EPNS', 1944 (c). The cup is inscribed with the insignia of the Highland Light Infantry and the Peshawar Vale Hunt, and the inscription, 'The Highland Light Infantry Challenge Cup Peshawar Vale Hunt Members Race 1944 First Major J D Olivier's Dedham'.
The Peshawar Vale Hunt was formed in 1870 from the regimental and private packs stationed around Peshawar. Jackal were hunted instead of the fox. The 2nd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry, served in India, including Peshawar, from 1925 until 1938.
