Field Marshal Sir Gerald Templer in Turkey, July 1956

Photograph, Turkey, 1956.

After successfully leading British forces during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), Templer was appointed Chief of the Imperial General Staff in 1955, and created a field marshal in 1956. He retired from active service in 1958.
