Princess Alexandra's gift box sent to an unknown soldier of the Royal Munster Fusiliers

Manufactured by Pascall, London, 1900.

In 1899 Queen Victoria decided to send a gift of a tin box of chocolate to each soldier serving in South Africa. By the end of 1900, 123,000 tins had been delivered. Gifts of a similar nature were also sent by other members of the Royal Family such as the Princess of Wales, Princess Alexandra, who provided tins of confectionary.
