Preparation for invasion, 1944

Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, Home Front, 1944.

A Sherman Firefly tank, armed with a 17-pounder gun, in a residential street in Worthing. It belonged to 3rd County of London Yeomanry who were then billeted in the town while awaiting embarkation for the D-Day landings.

From an album of 120 photographs compiled by Major W H J Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).
