Digital photograph by Dominic King, Army Press Office Germany, 2016.
A vehicle from 37 Armoured Engineer Squadron, 35 Engineer Regiment, based in Paderborn, on exercise prior to deployment to Canada.
Built by BAE Systems, the Trojan Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE) is a vehicle designed to carry out engineering tasks in combat conditions.
The vehicle is fitted with a plough for clearing obstacles and pathways through minefields and a hydraulic excavator arm for excavation tasks. It also carries a fascine similar to those carried by the first tanks during the First World War, used for filling ditches and trenches.
