Photograph by James Robertson (1813-1888), Crimean War, 1854 (c).
The 3rd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards arrived at its encampment at Scutari (on the eastern or Asiatic side of the Bosphorus, opposite Constantinople) at the end of April 1854. The remainder of the Grenadier Guards' camp is situated behind the photographer; on the slopes in the distance are the tents of the Light Division. Scutari Barracks is silhouetted on the horizon with part of Scutari Hospital just visible to the left of the picture.
