The Husainabad Emambara and tomb of Mahomed Ali Khan', Lucknow, 1858

Photograph by Felice Beato (1825-1907), Indian Mutiny (1857-1859).

Built during the reign of Muhammad Ali Shah (1837-1842), the Hussainabad Imambara was used to celebrate the festival of Muharram and consisted of a forecourt and main court. The imambara was located within the main court and was flanked by tombs on either side.
