Frank Stupple dressed as a page, 26 December 1917

Photograph, World War One, Home Front (1914-1918), 1917.

Rifleman Frank Stupple of 9th Battalion The London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles) enlisted in May 1915 and fought at Gommecourt on the Somme in 1916 before being shot in the arm in 1917. He is shown here during the Boxing Day festivities at Felthorpe hospital when he wore a page's outfit over the cage that prevented his disabled arm from going 'floppy'. Stupple was eventually discharged in April 1918 as he was no longer physically fit for war service.

One of 17 photographs relating to Pte Frank Stupple, Queen Victoria's Rifles, King's Royal Rifle Corps, 1915-1917.
