Silver statuette of a sergeant of the King's African Rifles in service dress, 1925
Manufactured by The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company Limited, London. Hallmarked London 1925.
This statuette belonged to Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Minchin of the Worcestershire Regiment who was seconded to the 1st (Nyasaland) Battalion, The King's African Rifles, between 1923 and 1926. By this time the regiment had been demobilised to a peace time establishment of six battalions having expanded to 22 battalions by the end of World War One (1914-1918). Minchin later served with the 8th Army in North Africa and Italy during World War Two (1939-1945).
