General Slim inspecting 1st (Nyasaland) Battalion, The King's African Rifles, Burma, 1945 (c)

The 1st Battalion had arrived in Burma in June 1944 after being shipped from East Africa via Ceylon (Sri Lanka) as part of 22nd (East African) Brigade. The latter brigade served in the Burma campaign as part of 82nd (West African) Division.
