Programme for Trooping the Colour by the 3rd Battalion, The King's African Rifles, to Commemorate the Coronation of King George VI, Nairobi, 12 May 1937

The spirit of a regiment was embodied in its Colours. Trooping or marching the Colours through the regiment reinforced the loyalty of its soldiers, both to the regiment itself and through it to the Sovereign whom they served.

The Coronation of King George VI was celebrated all over the British Empire. In Kenya, British and African military units paraded in Nairobi. The 3rd King's African Rifles (KAR) were one of six KAR battalions organised as a peace time establishment of two brigades.
