Shell of a wooden bass drum used by the 2nd Battalion 7th Rajput Regiment, 1920 (c)

Following the tradition of the British Army, this drum bears the battle honours of the regiment from Delhi in 1803, when they helped restore the Mughal Emperor, to the 3rd Afghan War of 1919.

Inside a paper label bears the maker's name Hawkes and Son, London. Another label is printed with 'Instructions for putting New Heads to Bass and Side Drums and how to lap them on flesh hoops'.

The front is painted blue and bears decoration including the royal arms, regimental name and below this, on scrolls, a list of battle honours.
