Indian and British King's Indian Orderly Officers, 1922

The King's Indian Orderly Officers were distinguished Indian army officers chosen annually to act as the King's honorary bodyguard in the United Kingdom. Originally six in number the number was reduced to four in 1904.

The officers depicted are Major W G Strover, 50th Kumaon Rifles; Subadar Major Vishram Rao Chowan, 116th Mahrattas; Subadar Major Nanjappa, 64th Pioneers; Subadar Major Joseph, 2nd Queen Victoria's Own Sappers and Miners; Subadar Major Krishna Bhosle, 1st Battalion, 128th Pioneers.

From a collection of 33 photographs 1903-1938 (mostly taken by Vandyk).
