Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, North West Europe, 1944.
A member of the 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry poses with a dog next to his Sherman tank. The regimental dog is part of a long tradition in the British Army of including pets 'on the strength', that is, animals that are fed and housed at regimental expense.
