Formation badge, 23rd Armoured Brigade, 1942 (c)

23rd Armoured Brigade was raised at Liverpool in November 1940 from 23rd Army Tank Brigade, a second-line Territorial Army formation. Its badge depicts a Liver Bird holding a frond, the emblem of that city. The brigade was part of 8th Armoured Division and went on to serve in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Greece before the end of hostilities in May 1945.
