Horse's hoof, 1815 (c)

This hoof belonged to 'Jubilee', the horse ridden by Captain Arthur Shakespear, 3rd Regiment of Dragoons and 10th Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars), at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Shakespear, the son of John Shakespear and Mary (née Drummond), was ADC to Lord Combermere; he was married to Sophia, daughter of Thomas S D Bucknal. Placed on half pay in 1818, he died in 1845.
