Regimental canteen, 10th Battalion, 1st Punjab Regiment, 1937 (c)
Photograph, India, 1937 (c).
The Dry Canteen at the regimental centre at Jhelum stocked a comprehensive range of articles at much more reasonable prices than the local bazaar and the profits were spent on providing further comforts for the men. There was a recreation room where cool drinks could be obtained and where recruits could sit under shady trees on hot summer evenings.
From an album of 91 photographs, 1936-1939 relating to 10th Battalion, 1st Punjab Regiment, India, North West Frontier.
