Photograph, India, 1909.

Lahore was the capital of British-ruled Punjab province and a key military cantonment. In 1909 it was headquarters of the 3rd Division of the Indian Army, which included the two regiments depicted here. The Dogra pipers lead the cavalry sowars through the bazaar as the residents of Lahore look on.

From an album of 87 photographs associated with Lieutenant F R Teesdale, 25th Cavalry (Frontier Force), Lahore Cantonment, 1902-1914.
