Lahore Hunt, 1909

Photograph, India, 1909.

Hunting was a major pastime for both the political and military elite of the British Raj and the traditional Indian princes. It was conducted on some large stations such as Peshawar, Bombay, Lahore and Ootacamund (Ooty) on the same lines as fox hunting in England, though the quarry was more often a jackal.

From an album of 87 photographs, 1902 (c)-1914. Associated with Lieutenant F R Teesdale, 25th Cavalry (Frontier Force), Lahore Cantonment.
