'C' Squadron parade, Hamburg, May 1945
Photograph, World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1945.
Members of 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) line up in a Hamburg square while a group of civilians look on. The Sharpshooters entered Hamburg on 4th May 1945, after advancing across northern Germany with the British 2nd Army.
The men are wearing their best battledress uniforms and have also cleaned and whitened their webbing equipment to present the smartest appearance possible after a long campaign across North West Europe.
From a photograph album containing 198 photographs and captions compiled by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 1944-1945.
