Lieutenant-Colonel W 'Bill' Rankin commanded the 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry from August 1944 until the end of the Second World War. He wears a winter jacket as protection against the cold of the Netherlands and Germany during the autumn and winter operations of 1944 and 1945.
