This officer's vest belonged to Lieutenant-Colonel (later General) John Wilkie (1817-1882). It is decorated in the distinctive hussar fashion, with the same pattern lace and braid as the jacket and fastened with 16 gilded brass, plain ball buttons. The lining is of a drab fine woollen fabric. In later life General Wilkie was also honorary colonel of the 14th Hussars.
