'Remembrance Day November 11th', 1925
Advertising poster after Maurice Kirth, in support of the British Legion and Field Marshal Earl Haig's Appeal, 1925 (c).
The poster has a picture of stylised poppies and a white, unmarked cross. It carries the slogan 'Wear a Flanders Poppy'.
The quote on the poster, 'If ye break faith with us who die we shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders fields', comes from the poem by the Canadian officer, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, 'in Flanders fields'.
The poster also mentions 'St Dunstan's' as a beneficiary of the British Legion's Poppy Day Appeal. St Dunstan's Hostel for Blind Soldiers and Sailors was founded in 1914 by Sir Arthur Pearson. It eventually became the charity, Blind Veterans UK, which has its centre at Ovingdean near Brighton.
