'Signals', 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), North Africa, 1943

The group are named in a similar photograph (NAM. 1975-03-63-3-83) as: rear row (left to right): Signalmen N Propert, G Bendle, Staff Quartermaster Sergeant G Machell, Signalman M Chiosso; second row (left to right) Driver T Allen, Corporal T Roberts, Sergeant P Wallis, Drivers F Shirley and S Davies; front row (left to right) Signalmen M Tonkin and T Vose, Drivers H Carter and H Patrick.

In early 1943, the 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) was moved to Cowley Camp at Mena near Cairo where the unit was re-equipped and personnel undertook training in preparation for the invasion of Sicily.
