Bombay Light Horse Inter-troop Point to Point Cup, 1909-1941

Silver two-handled cup, with maker's mark 'E S B', hallmarked Sheffield, 1909-1910. Inscribed on a silver collar, 'Bombay Light Horse Inter Troop Point to Point Cup Presented by Lieut A H M Wilson 12th Cavalry'.

The Bombay Light Horse was an auxiliary unit raised in 1885 as part of the India Volunteer Force.

The Hodson Index of Indian Army personnel records an Arthur Henry Maitland Wilson joining the Indian Army as a 2nd Lieutenant on 13 March 1906. Sadly, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records the death of Captain A H M Wilson of the 12th Indian Cavalry, aged 33, in Mesopotamia on 29 January 1918. His grave is registered at Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, in Iraq.
