Leaflet explaining the War Gratuity, issued to bereaved families, dated September 1919

From a collection of service papers, photographs and documents relating to the death in action of Private P C Ottley, London Scottish on 23 November 1917.

Private Percy Crofts Ottley (service number 515413) served with the 14th (County of London) Battalion London Regiment (London Scottish) during World War One (1914-1918). The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records the death of Private Ottley on the 23 November 1917, aged 32, on the Cambrai Memorial at Louveral. Ottley was born in Ranskill, Nottinghamshire on 31 August 1885. Before the war Ottley was a bank clerk with Messrs Beckett and Company of Doncaster.
