Soldiers from the battalion watch on.On 19 October 1944, 2nd Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers had captured the small down of Pinhe, before A, B and C Companies were sent on to capture Pintha. With the roads unsuitable for heavy traffic, and the railway bridges damaged, resupply and further movement was a major challenge. Mules were a vital tool in moving supplies through the harsh jungle conditions, and the capture of Pintha enabled further air supply.
