Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders leaving Wad Hamid, Sudan, August 1898

Three soldiers of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders in service marching towards the photographer with shouldered arms. Other versions of this photograph record the soldiers' names as Private Arthur Watts, Private Smith and Private Macdonald. Wad Hamid is a city on the River Nile, 100 miles north of Sudan's capital, Khartoum.

From an album, entitled 'Khartum 1898', associated with the 2nd Sudan War (1896-1899).
