British wounded outside a hospital, December 1916

Lantern slide, World War One, Salonika (1914-1918), 1916.

Although there many patients with wounds caused by combat, thousands of British soldiers were hospitalised during the Salonika campaign by diseases like malaria. The hospital depicted was later used as a British Army headquarters and popularly known as the 'War Office'.
