From a group of 23 photographs collected by Captain (later Lieutenant Colonel) William Arthur Henry Bird (1884-1950), 23rd Sikh Pioneers, 1906-1915.

Bird was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in 1904. He served with the 23rd Sikh Pioneers, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1928. He served in Aden and Somaliland in 1914-1915. He retired from the Army in 1933, and died in 1950, in Cuckfield, West Sussex.
