Giraffe's tail bracelet, 1950 (c)

This bracelet was worn by a Nilotic Askari of the King's African Rifles. The Nilotic peoples are an ethnic group from what is now southern Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and northern Tanzania. During the colonial era many men from these regions joined the King's African Rifles.
