Cap badge, officer, service dress, 16th (The Queen's) Lancers, 1920 (c)

Die-struck, bronzed, by J R Gaunt Limited, 1920 (c). The badge comprises the figure '16' above a scroll inscribed, 'The Queen's Lancers', over a pair of crossed lances and surmounted by a post 1902 design crown.

This regiment had originally been raised as a light dragoon unit in 1759, but designated as a lancer regiment in 1816. The regiment was amalgamated in 1922 with the 5th (Royal Irish) Lancers.

Bronze finished badges like this were produced for officers khaki service dress to blend in and be much visible than polished gilt or brass badges.
