Field Officer's coatee, worn by Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Hicks, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot, 1810 (c)

In December 1811 it was ordered that Infantry officers were to wear short-tailed coatees. These were worn on service. The long-tailed coatee was not abolished but kept for certain parades and levees.

Colonel Hicks joined the 24th from the 61st Foot in 1804 and commanded the regiment from 1813 to 1814.
