The two soldiers, wearing greatcoats and gas mask cases on their chests, are standing in front of a Fordson WOT2 15-cwt truck, one of the many softskin vehicles that supported the tanks and crews of 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).

In October 1940, the 3rd and 4th Sharpshooters Regiments moved to the Dorking area, with the 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) billeted in Cherfold, Chiddingfold and surrounding villages. The Sharpshooters were temporarily deployed to various training areas during this period. In May 1941 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) moved to Westbury in Wiltshire, prior to deployment to North Africa.
