Officers of the 9th Mounted Infantry, Middleburg, 1903

Captain W E L Stewart, carrying a cane, is seated second from left on the middle row and to his left, seated in a low chair, is Hugh Trenchard, future founder of the Royal Air Force. A variety of uniforms and hats are worn, the latter including peaked caps, pith helmets and a broad brimmed hat.
