Private Adolph Walter Tomsett, 7th (Princess Royal's) Dragoon Guards, 1910 (c)
Framed portrait photograph by Imperial Studio of Chester. Some parts of the photo have been slightly over painted to highlight the details of the helmet and sword belt. A label on the back shows that it was sent to his family, probably his mother Annie. There is also a postal date of 14 February 1920.
Tomsett stands in mounted review order consisting of a scarlet full dress tunic with black facings and regimental collar badges, pantaloons, and white gauntlets, pouch belt and sword belt. His sword hangs from the sling of his sword belt and he holds his helmet which has a plume of black over white horsehair.
Private Tomsett enlisted in the 7th Dragoon Guards around 1909 and served in Egypt and India. During the World War One (1914-1918) he also served with the 9th Tank Corps.
