'11th Hussars watering at the camp at Devna, Bulgars & Buffaloes'
Watercolour by 2nd Lieutenant William Thomas Markham (1830-1886), 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade, 1854 (c).
The 11th (Prince Albert's Own) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars) embarked for the Crimea in May 1854 at Kingston. Arriving at Kalamita Bay in September they went on to fight at Balaklava on 25 October, taking part in the Charge of the Light Brigade.
