37th Lancers (Baluch Horse) Baluch, 36th Jacob's Horse Pathan (All of the Derajat District), 35th Scinde Horse, Kot Daffadar, Baluch, 1910

Watercolour by Major Alfred Crowdy Lovett (1862-1919), 1910.

The mounted lancer is dressed in khaki service uniform and is depicted talking to two dismounted daffadars (cavalry sergeants) in dress uniforms. The 35th, 36th and 37th were all former Bombay Army regiments that were redesignated during the 1903 Kitchener Reforms of the Indian Army.

This is the original artwork for an illustration in Major G F MacMunn's 'Armies of India', published in 1911.
