Regimental Colour, 2nd Battalion, 10th (The North Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot, 1859

In British line infantry units the Regimental Colour was a flag of a single colour, usually the colour of the uniform facings (collar, lapels and cuffs) of the regiment, often trimmed and with the insignia in the centre.

The 2nd Battalion was raised in Ireland in 1858 when the Government decided to expand the Army during the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859). Its first overseas posting was in South Africa in 1860 from where it journeyed to India in 1865.
