Sergeant Corey Lonergan, Adjutant General's Corps, 2017

Rory Lewis' project, 'Soldiery', featured leaders and soldiers from a range of iconic regiments, capturing the evolving face of the 21st century British Army. Sergeant Lonergan was one of a number of transgender soldiers who featured in the project. As of 2014, the United Kingdom granted transgender people permission to serve openly in its armed forces.

From a collection of 200 A3 portrait photographs from the 'Soldiery' exhibition and book by Rory Lewis, winner of the Portrait of Britain award 2017, 2018 and 2019.
