Sten Mk V 9 mm sub-machine gun, 1944-1950 (c)

Developed in 1944 to produce a firearm which had a better finish than the previous utilitarian weapons. It still retained the faults of the earlier marks of Sten, including the magazine feed which often caused the gun to jam. It also had a reputation for going off when you least expected it. Although superseded by the Patchett in 1953 and then the Stirling, the Sten was still used in Korea, Kenya and Malaya unless a more reliable weapon was available.
