Portrait group of British soldiers named as 'Charles', 'Peter' and 'Frank'. B Squadron 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) were billeted at Chiddingfold in October 1940.
Sergeant Charles Harris was killed in action in Sicily on the 13 July 1943. According to the unit's war diary, his Sherman tank, along with six out of seven others, was knocked out by anti-tank and mortar fire near Tenutella, Sicily. Harris is commemorated at the Syracuse War Cemetery.
