The detachment of the 2nd Battalion are armed with Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifles. In 1936-1937 their unit was deployed alongside 30,000 other British and Indian troops against the Waziri leader, the Fakir of Ipi. The Fakir's HQ was eventually captured, though he himself escaped, remaining a thorn in the sides of the British and later the Pakistan authorities until his death in 1960.
